How to Make a Great Company Email Newsletter

Creating an e-newsletter is a great way to remind customers of your services, make sales and contribute to your company’s overall branding and success. Here are some tips to keep in mind when creating your email marketing campaign or print newsletter to your company’s agenda:

Be Informative. Offer useful tips and information that your customers will really want to read. A well written and informative newsletter is something that people will look forward to and enjoy reading.

Be Brief. We gets hundreds (if not thousands!) of emails everyday. Keep your newsletter short and to the point so that it can read quickly and key points can be gathered easily. A great way to draw in your customers eye is with bullets, numbering, and bold headlines.

Be Creative. Find a format that can be copied easily week to week (or month to month depending on your circulation). Scan through the following formats to get an idea of what would work best for you:

“Top Lists” – These are generally pretty easy to create and are fun for your customer to read. Statistics show that odd numbered lists attract people more than even numbers. For instance, “Top 7 Ways to Show Customer Appreciation on Social Media Platforms” or “Top 3 Ways to Manage Social Media Accounts”.

“Transformation” – This type of newsletter presents a problem and a solution. If you own a salon, you would show before & after pictures of a clients transformation. If you’re a cleaning company, you’ll show before & afters of a dirty job.

“To Do List” – Having a checklist is a great way to provide useful content for clients. If you own an event planning company you can do a “Checklist for the Best Kids Birthday Party” or “Bride to Be’s Checklist for the Ultimate Honeymoon”.

These formats don’t have to be used exclusively. You should rotate strategies to see what works best with your customer base. It’s important to ensure that the newsletter coincides with current branding, includes contact information and has a call-to-action. You can include the weeks (or months) specials, exclusive coupons for newsletter readers, and other information about the company that clients would want to know. Be sure to have a sign up box on your website and social media pages so that your subscriber base can grow.
